Would you like some trees for your planting space or garden?
Soothside Bloomers are asking for flowering bulbs in exchange for various different types of saplings.
Information sheets on each species are supplied at the bottom of this article to help you decide which would suit your growing space.
‘We have 6 different types of trees on offer in exchange for bulbs that will flower in spring, bringing much needed colour to the community garden. Any bulbs you see on your travels will do. The trees on offer are: blackthorn, hawthorn, hazel, oak, rowan and silver birch. They can be grown outside in many different ways such as hedging, in suitable pots or to cheer up a small yard.
Even if you don’t have much space these trees can be grown in large planters for the first 5 to 8 years, so don’t be put off if you don’t off if you don’t have massive planting space. All the trees on offer are great for wildlife and will flower and fruit in pots too.
1 bag of bulbs will get you a tree.
All you need to do is bring in a bag of bulbs and we will exchange it for a tree of your choice. We will also provide you with a cane and protective cover per tree. You may have a selection of up to 50 trees at a time. Haggling is permitted for larger number of trees.
We are looking to plant out all of the bulbs by the end of November so please be swift. The cry for help ends when we run out of trees.
Your options to barter are:
• Pop into the garden on Wednesday afternoon (23rd + 30th) to see us.
• Leave your bulbs in the polytunnel with your name and order attached.
• Or simply email us with your request and we will get in contact with you.
If you choose to gift the tree for Xmas a handy A5 size certificate is attached to this email which you can either place inside or glue to the front of a card.
Additionally, specific tree Information sheets are also attached as well as planting out instructions and helpful hints and tips. The opinions expressed are those researched on various sites on the internet and are not held by us.
Happy planting from Sooside Bloomers :-)’
